LA Diaries #2

January was an interesting month. I fully embraced the sense of fresh start that it brought in the beginning, but ultimately ended up having more ups and downs than I'd like to admit. I got to spent time with a lot people I care about throughout the month, especially during my birthday weekend. I didn't really go anywhere new, but explored some places that I knew I enjoyed - Larchmont Village, Arts District, Santa Monica Beach... One of the things I like to do on weekends is to drive across town on the freeways (since I'm likely running late meeting someone), but take my time and drive locally on the way back, stopping anytime and anywhere I want to take photos or walk around. There's never a time, and probably never will be a time, when I don't find something new. At the very least, there will always be a different sunset each day.

I found out recently that the Getty Center closes at 9pm on Saturdays. So two weeks ago at 7:50pm on Saturday, I spontaneously decided to get up and go. It was a bit of rush but I made it. There was no one else in the tram on the way up. I felt like the only person in the entire Getty Center. I loved the views and the quietness, that is until I became surrounded by people everywhere on the way down. Being alone in a big city is ever only just an illusion.

I also spent quite a few hours lying on the grass in my favorite park while experimenting with my new zoom lens.
