Three Books that Have Inspired Me

I have had many realizations since stepping into “adulthood”, some exciting and some scary. One of which is the fact that there will no longer be anyone telling me what I should or I shouldn’t be doing. Reading has always been emphasized in my education – required readings and book reports were stable assignments in every school I’ve attended. And even though I no longer took English courses in college, a variety of academic readings helped my mind stay sharp…

On the Road in Norcal

I had exactly 18 days between two full time jobs. After going to Seattle and Portland with my best friend and visiting my boyfriend in San Diego, it was only natural to spend some quality time with my family. We spent four days on the road, going from Napa to UC Davis to Lake Tahoe, not doing too much more than just *being* wherever we were.  The city of Napa wasn’t big at all. We took an evening stroll by…

Portland, OR

Earlier this month I visited Portland for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect out of a place that prides itself in being “weird”, but it definitely exceeded whatever implicit expectations I did have. The thing that made the biggest impression on me was how amazingly friendly everyone was. On our first day, a bus driver gave us day passes for free and showed us exactly how to get to where we wanted to go, and that was…

Comfort Above All

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve realized that comfort is the most important thing to strive for in everyday fashion. I’ve always wanted to venture out of wearing jeans everyday outside of summer months. While I’ve learned how to incorporate dresses and skirts on colder days using tights and boots, tights can still be quite restricting and that’s just not going to cut it when I need to sit at a desk for eight hours during a workday. That is…

Seattle – Part II

We spent two more days in Seattle, mostly on foot, exploring both touristy and local spots. Here are five things we did: 1. Walk around Pike Place Market Our hotel was only a ten minute walk to the market, so we went there every day during our visit to see something new, including the infamous gum wall. It was cool and all but I’m not sure I love it. 2. Queen Anne We were told that Kerry Park in Queen…

Seattle – Part I

Stepping into real adulthood, I’m realizing how precious time off is becoming, which is why I want to make the most of it whenever I do have it. My best friend and I spent a short couple of days in Seattle, but we did so many things that it felt more like a week. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been to Seattle now, but I was still able to discover a bunch of new things. We started off…

Dungarees

I’ve been casually on the lookout for a pair of dungarees for a while now since they’re pretty much a more versatile romper – one of my favorite clothing items. However it’s much harder to a find one that fits well, which is why I was surprised to stumble across one that fits me like a glove in a local thrift shop. I paired it with a jcrew graphic tee that I thrifted on the same day. As the weather’s…
